Paramahamsa Hariharananda: A Legacy of Divinity and Love Commemorating the Tenth Year of His Mahasamadhi (2002-2012)

November 4, 11, 18, & 25 - 3-hour guided or silent meditations on each of the four Sundays in November.

November 25th to December 1st - each day of this week, Kriyavans worldwide are invited to practice more intensively one of Gurudev's precious teachings. Kriyavans around the globe will join in practicing the same teaching on the same day of that week. The teachings and schedule are as follows:

  • Sunday, November 25th - Fix your attention in the fontanel; feel that God is there in your head. Concentrate there.
  • Monday, November 26th - Calmly watch your breath. It will naturally become feeble. Feeble breath will give you the experience of inner sound.
  • Tuesday, November 27th - Think hundred times before you speak.
  • Wednesday, November 28th - Time is God. Do not waste a moment unnecessarily.
  • Thursday, November 29th - Food is the primary aspect in spiritual life. While eating food, be prayerful. Love God in every taste. Our whole body and brain are formed from food and food is transformed into maya. Yet food is also the root cause of illumination and emancipation. Chew your food minimum 20 times before you swallow it.
  • Friday, November 30th - Try to see the living presence of God in all. Live with the loving attitude of asking how you can serve others first. We are all one.
  • Saturday, December 1st - All belongs to God. You are one with God - Thou art That. You should feel this day and night.

While we strive to make Gurudev’s teachings part of our daily practice, on these days we will contemplate their meaning more intensely. A capsulation of Baba’s writings and teachings has been provided for each day to assist the Kriyavan in his or her practice and contemplation as well as for group discussion. November 30th to December 3rd - Mahasamadhi Seminar, Homestead, Florida by Swami Atmavidyananda Giri and Yogacharya John Thomas Lopategui.

December 1st - Kriyavans adopt a new spiritual discipline that they will incorporate into their lives.

December 1st to 3rd - we will have online-streaming to include discourses by Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, monks, yogacharyas, and others, newly released videos of Gurudev not seen before, chanting by monastics, singing and musical contributions, cultural performances by the children of Balashram, documentaries of charitable activities, and more. The broadcast will begin the morning of December 1st and conclude in the evening of December 3rd. Anyone missing a specific broadcast or wishing to repeat it will be able to view it the following day from the Click-to-View section of our website. December 3rd, 2012 will mark the 10th anniversary of our beloved Gurudev's mahasamadhi. On this day and the days leading to it, Kriyavans will join in a global celebration to honor the memory of Sri Paramahamsa Hariharananda Giri.

The life of Gurudev was a manifestation of service, love, humility and compassion. He often quoted the Sanskrit maxim, "Feed the hungry, teach the students, nurse the sick, and give solace to the distressed." He exemplified this maxim throughout his life, always seeking the opportunity to serve. He once said, "I have come to serve, not to be served. I have come to give, not to take."

At this time and on this special day we will be contemplating the life and teachings of Gurudev and asking God to give us the strength to follow his footsteps. Opportunities are being created at both the global and center level so that all can participate, learn, grow and express our love for one who has given so much for our spiritual evolution.
