Below is a list of the current projects along with the estimated costs.
1) Landscaping & Grounds-maintenance
Last year, Pedro Bermudez has provided a landscaping plan for the property. As part of it, we are planning to build a proper gate structure at the entrance and landscape the entrance area to make it more welcoming. Apart from that, we are also planning to have an attractive hedge on the west side of the property to maintain good relationships with our neighbors.
a) Gate Structure ~$35K
b) Replace fence on the North-side property (partial) and have hedge ~$7K
c) Landscaping the Entrance Area ~$5K
d) Pond Maintenance Project ~$5K
Continuation of building the retaining wall in some areas; having proper steps to the pond for its maintenance; removing the slit from the pond to have clear water.
e) Grounds-maintenance equipment ~32K
In order to keep up with all this work, the ashram residents and volunteers need some help. For this purpose, we are purchasing a new compact tractor, Kubota L3901, along with the necessary implements to help with all the heavy lifting. This new machine will make a great many tasks on the property significantly easier and faster as well as make possible other types of projects and maintenance tasks that were previously too big or difficult to handle.
The tractor will be extremely useful for a multitude of tasks around the property including the moving and leveling of dirt, gravel, and mulch; digging holes in the rock subsoil for plantation; grading and surfacing the gravel driveway and paths; hauling debris; removing tree stumps, digging, wood chipping, and many more.
d) On-going Ground Maintenance ~$1650/month [$19.8K/year]
Due to FL weather, Shri Gurudev's Rose Garden, fruit trees, and garden require ongoing maintenance year-round. The monthly labor cost for the maintenance of the lawn and part of the garden is $1200/month. The rose garden maintenance costs $180/month. Other expenses include garden supplies (mulch, soil, etc.), tool rental, hedge maintenance, and tree trimming.
2) Replacement of broken kitchen appliances ~$13K
The existing double oven in the main kitchen is broken and is not repairable. The existing two cooktops have been giving constant challenges, and become unreliable and risky. The volunteers who prepare the food during our special events would really appreciate having a better oven and cooktops. So, we will have the following ready for use before the upcoming program in May.
3) Replacement of the office server ~$18K
The existing server reached end-of-life two years ago and has started giving problems. Neither does it have enough storage capacity to protect the organization's data. At present, the media team is using external hard drives, and data loss is a constant concern. A more reliable system is needed to protect the organization's data. We are planning to buy a Synology Disk Station / NAS Server to meet the above needs.
