Yogacharya Swapna Chattopadhya was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Paramahamsa Hariharananda in 1974, in her hometown of Sambalpur, Orissa, India. In 1990, Gurudev authorized her to guide meditation classes. Observing the wishes of her master, she has guided many meditation classes in Kolkata and Howrah.
On May 27, 2007, the Centenary Day of beloved Gurudev, she was authorized to teach the Kriya Yoga technique to spiritual aspirants.
Yogacharya Swapna Chattopadhya is a homemaker, wife, and mother of two sons, who also holds an M.A. degree in Economics. Music, scripture study, and writing about her spiritual realization are some of her favorite pastimes. She also serves others in her community by helping to provide education for those who are less fortunate.
She considers the practice of Kriya Yoga as an essential element for not only maintaining optimal health of body and mind; but most importantly, for achieving God-realization. She feels that Kriya “enriches one’s decisive power,” and at the same time, “increases one’s love and forgiveness of others,” which ultimately will make us better human beings.
